Turning Film Into a Game Plan - Part 2

Welcome to our 3-part series, “Turning Film Into a Game Plan.” At Legacy Sports Intelligence, we’re on a mission to simplify the complexity of the game. In this series, we’ll walk you through how LSI and DONA—the Diamond Neural Advisor—turn your opponent’s film into clear, actionable game plans. Whether you’re scouting an ace pitcher or prepping your lineup for regionals, you’ll see how analytics can save you hours and sharpen your strategy.

📊 Part 2: Reading the Data — How to Decode an Opponent

Now that your report is ready, let’s turn data into clarity. DONA’s dashboard breaks each pitcher into visual stories. Instead of spreadsheets full of decimals, you’ll see what matters—patterns that win games.

Key sections to look for:

  • Pitch Usage Map: Identifies which pitch appears most often in certain counts.

  • Zone Heatmap: Shows where strikes and misses occur most frequently.

  • Performance Trends: See how velocity dips after pitch #70, or how riseballs flatten late.

Here’s a real-world example:

DONA flags that Pitcher #14 throws a riseball 62% of the time with two strikes—but her swing-and-miss rate drops 18% when that pitch is elevated too high. That’s a window of opportunity for disciplined hitters who can lay off the high pitch.

This is where analytics meets intuition. You’re not just reading a report—you’re coaching with context.

Pro Tip: Use the “Compare” feature to overlay your lineup’s tendencies with her heatmap. See where your hitters can do the most damage.

👉 Next up: We’ll build a game-winning plan around these insights.
